Hi! Yes, you can transfer all your files from the old hard drive to the new SSD using your desktop computer. Just copy everything over via SATA and then reinstall it on the new drive. Let me know if you need more details!

If you decide to maintain the operating system (which isn't the best approach), you should clone rather than copy files. As previously noted, a fresh installation of Windows is advisable—it's straightforward and will prevent many issues.

You can install Windows using a USB stick without needing flash drives or CDs. Since you already have Windows 7 installed, you can use the Windows key during the setup process for a fresh installation. For cloning files, yes—you can access your desktop and perform the backup manually if needed.

I mean a portable storage device connected via USB. Many people mistakenly think it refers only to flash drives, but it actually includes other types like thumb drives and memory cards.

Many SSDs come with cloning tools you’ll need for this process. But as @Jamiec1130 mentioned, it’s safer to start fresh. Windows can recognize an SSD and adjust its settings differently from a traditional HDD. You can install Windows 10 using a USB drive that holds at least 4GB of space. Get the media creation utility here. You can activate Windows 10 with a product key for Windows 7.

Check the label or manufacturer details to confirm it's a USB flash drive. If unsure, try connecting it to a different port or device to see if it works.

Yes, that's a flash drive. As long as it's blank, you can install Windows from it.
