Transfer of Windows License
Transfer of Windows License
I recently switched from my previous laptop. During the free upgrade period, I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Pro and had Office 2013 Pro installed. My new second-hand laptop runs Windows 8 but lacks an office suite. Can I transfer the license from the old machine to the new one? Using the OEM key on the back sticker of the old laptop to activate Windows 10 would work, but would that also include Office? Buying Office from kinguin.net is possible, but using it for free would be ideal! Thanks for your assistance!
Only the second device can be upgraded to Windows 10. I’ve applied keys for Windows 7/8/8.1 within Windows 10, yet compatibility remains uncertain.
Your Windows 7 activation is linked to the original laptop, so Windows 10 won’t work on another machine using that key. You can still upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10 for free. The Windows 8 OEM key stored in the UEFI will activate your system, though it’s unclear if such software stays tied to the device.
This method isn't allowed. Consider purchasing from a store or using open office tools or Google Docs.
