Transfer files from your primary storage to an external hard drive on Windows 10.
You need to transfer your files from the SSD to the hard drive. Start by backing up important data, then use Windows File Explorer or a tool like Disk Management to move the folders from the SSD to the 750GB drive. If you're unsure, consider using a third-party utility for safer migration.
Basic steps. First, place the new folder where you need it on your hard drive. Then, for each personal folder like Pictures or Documents on your SSD, right-click and choose Properties. Look for the "Location" tab and change the destination there. Use the Browse option to pick the folder you just created. After finishing, confirm with OK. When you open those folders again, they’ll display the contents of the HDD. Files added will automatically move there. The SSD folder is no longer needed (the files have been transferred, and any duplicates from the original folder will combine).
