You’d need to transfer the apps and adjust your system settings. Moving files alone won’t work because Windows can’t locate them without proper configuration changes. You may need to edit PATH or similar paths to ensure they point to the new drive.

Are you sure a fresh setup is needed for Windows on the new storage? You might safely duplicate the previous drive to the new one. If not, removing and reapplying it will help prevent problems with file paths and registry settings.

It's a replica of the previous storage device, yet I aim to transfer the applications from the old hard drive to my new SSD to enhance performance in games and software.

It doesn’t function properly with that approach. Having too many registry changes would prevent updates and cause issues. You should either uninstall and reinstall or clone the whole setup onto the new SSD. The only known exception is Steam, which allows moving the entire folder elsewhere without reinstalling.

Please note the incorrect assumption about the app locations. You'll need to reinstall them on the updated boot drive.

It seems like you're planning not to make those changes, which would take some time. I’ve handled similar tasks with Steam games before; I’m hoping Microsoft or another team develops a solution for this.
