transfer files between hard drive and solid state drive
I recently bought a Samsung Evo 850 with 250 GB SSD. I need to transfer the operating system from my existing HDD to the new SSD in my laptop. The Windows installation is already set up on the HDD, but moving everything to the SSD is proving difficult. I don’t have a USB to SATA cable, and the Samsung migration tool requires it. Can someone assist me with this?

You can achieve this using the Samsung Data Migration Software, though I wouldn't suggest it unless your SSD matches or exceeds the current HDD capacity. The tool creates clones of drive contents as if they were identical drives. However, if you run out of space before completion, you risk losing your operating system. A 250gb size feels quite limited. Apart from that, the software performs well; I successfully cloned a 1TB HDD to my Samsung 1TB 840 EVO drive without any problems.
You don't have to install anything and just connect the SSD and HDD to a desktop PC. Using Acronis TrueImage to clone them works perfectly. I do this regularly—it even resizes automatically, so if your HDD is larger than your SSD, it won’t cause issues.
