From someone who’s tried racing games, I strongly advise against buying Shift 2—it’s a disaster. Plus, there’s a high chance it won’t run smoothly.

I already have it set up on my rig, with over a thousand hours of use. Disappointing. Just want to enjoy portable play. That’s what I’m aiming for too. I meet the basic requirements, and I’m running XP, so it doesn’t significantly affect game performance. And I’m using 1336x768 resolution...

From what I recall, the game was developed under tight deadlines, causing performance issues even on top systems, and it's unclear if any fixes were made. However, if it was resolved, it might function at lower settings.
