Transfer de archivos Ethernet
Excuse the stupid question, I'm a noob when it comes to networking. Can I connect 2 computers by an Ethernet cable and have a connection between them over which I can send files? To clarify there's nothing in between them, just 2 PCs and an Ethernet cable. Thanks in advance!
No need for a crossover cable, all gigabit NICs connect seamlessly, which has been the norm for over a decade. Just set up IP addresses manually on each side.
Over the past two decades, every network adapter supports Auto MDI-X, enabling direct communication via a simple cable. Just configure the IP addresses yourself.
As mentioned, it doesn't matter whether your cable is direct or crossed; both should function. The main task might be setting up static IP addresses manually since Windows hasn't fully implemented a proper DHCP server yet. If you're unsure how to do that, just let me know. (Reminder: mention your operating system and its version when asking.)
Oh no, I'm sorry for giving you wrong info. Thanks for pointing it out. Honestly, I wasn't aware of that. Appreciate the correction. By the way, D-LAN is still a solid option, hehe.
