I've just set up Lubuntu 18.04.1 LTS on my Lenovo Thinkpad T400. On Windows, I changed the Trackpoint to function as a scrollwheel, using a scroll-stick instead of a scroll-wheel. Initially, I enabled the hold-middle to scroll option. That worked perfectly out of the box. Now I need to reverse that setting. I want: holding the middle Trackpoint button off → scrolls, holding it on → tracks cursor. I also prefer using the Trackpoint for scrolling rather than relying on the Trackpad's scroll area. This is especially useful since I'm used to zooming with the Trackpad and panning with the Trackpoint. TheSebware

Have you looked at the BIOS settings? Your Lenovo Flex 3 and T420 include FN-key adjustments in their BIOS. Could flipping them change something?

I verified it in the BIOS – no relevant settings for the trackpoint function.
