Instead of the motherboard subforum, I started with BIOS. Loaded defaults (f5) and exited without any alerts. Restarted BIOS and used a USB stick for the next flash. I pressed a button just in case the defaults loaded and then exited. Now I see the TPM screen to save for discrete mode. Was it because I connected the USB stick during BIOS? Should I just insert the USB now with the latest update, then go back to BIOS and flash again? After that, I need to change the TPM firmware for the Windows update.

Occasionally people follow a similar process. Simply disable, apply the firmware TPM, and flash the BIOS (using the BIOS interface) that’s all.

Great questions! Enabling USB reboot and BIOS flashing is a common setup step. The discrete TPM shouldn’t interfere with the BIOS flash process. Since the FTPM firmware is enabled, it shouldn’t cause issues during the flash. Keeping the firmware active during Windows installation helps ensure a smooth setup.

The BIOS flash restarts the system, eliminating concerns. No need for a flash drive—your file works on any storage device. You can locate it in the MSI BIOS flash utility under Bios. For firmware TPM 11, the updated BIOS handles it automatically.

You're wondering if TPM should be discrete or if the firmware version matters more. It looks like you think the factory defaults are the standard, but it's possible that using a different firmware version could affect things. Make sure you follow the recommended defaults to avoid issues.
