I was searching for a new Wi-Fi card to swap in for my old TP-Link USB Wi-Fi adapter. My budget is about $150 CAD, and I need the strongest coverage possible. Since my router is in the basement and I'm on the first floor, I want something reliable without signal drops or frequent disconnections. I’m open to any type—PCIe or USB works fine. I also need it to support 5G networks smoothly.
With a Wi-Fi 6 router, these products should work similarly. But for a top-of-the-line 4x4 non-Wi-Fi 6 router, this might offer the best speed. Make sure you have a 4x4 model to get the full performance.
Relocating the wireless router a few levels higher can make a big difference. You might not need to replace your WiFi card. Even with a new one, improvements may be minimal. The newer AX cards boost performance only if your router supports them. Otherwise, physical barriers like walls and floors still affect connectivity.
It's a Netgear device with a 5GHz speed, though I'm not certain of the exact model.
The router includes wireless-AC (5GHz) capability, which could boost your connection speed. Keep in mind my earlier advice—still focus on positioning it close to the device. WiFi performs more reliably when devices are aligned horizontally rather than vertically.
