Oh no, I mistakenly thought about VPN instead of VPN... I'm using openvpn now. It's quite simple to configure.

It depends on your setup. Be aware that several factors can affect performance: from you to the ISP, from the ISP to your home, and from your home back to the ISP. Observe that the ISP ↔ home relationship is mentioned twice, meaning your home network needs to manage more than just the bandwidth you request. For everyday tasks it should work well as long as your home connection is solid.

Openvpn can be a bit tricky to set up, but several helpful scripts have been created. One useful version is available at https://github.com/Nyr/openvpn-install, and another improved by Angristan can be found at https://github.com/Angristan/OpenVPN-install. These should make the process much faster!
