I've been using VirtualDub for a long time to compress my video clips, but lately I'm feeling less satisfied. I'm exploring alternatives like Divx Converter, though it's only available as a trial. I'm looking for a tool that can handle many file types and formats with extensive options and strong codec support.

Handbrake isn't supporting that many formats, which is why I kept it out of the discussion. If you're okay with that, just use Handbrake.
