Evening, thanks for reaching out. If you're open to suggestions, adding a few cameras near entry points can help keep an eye on the area. Since you're based in the UK and prefer wireless options, look for models that support Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. For a home server setup—especially one used for NAS and gaming—consider compact, reliable cameras with good video quality. If you need to run cables, ensure they’re sturdy enough for your space. You might want to explore smart security systems that integrate cameras and basic automation. Let me know if you'd like more details!

The most cost-effective option would be an older smartphone.

Phones aren't really my thing, which means the only time I'd change one is if it's broken or completely dead. The last phone I owned was an iPhone 3G, and it was around 20 years ago.

You can locate PoE cameras around $100 or less that should function. A modest PoE unmanaged switch and cabling would suffice. You might also opt for PoE injectors to maintain power from a single source protected by a UPS. All options are generally affordable.

I had a good experience with Reolink cameras and a Synology NAS serving as a NVR.

Order a two-bay system for NVR use, a four-bay setup for gaming and backup, and a two-bay unit for security cameras and law enforcement needs.

I've tested multiple Eufy wireless camera models and noticed they offer excellent value for the price. They often come with discounts during promotions. While cloud storage via a NAS requires a paid plan, I opted for local SD-card storage instead. The live and recorded video quality is outstanding, particularly with the +2K cameras through their companion app.
