I own a vintage Gateway DX4870 setup aiming to transform it into a budget gaming rig. The goal is simple—run Gold Rush without breaking the bank. The i3-2130 works fine for me, but I’m open to swapping to an i5 that fits the board. A dedicated GPU would be ideal, so options like 1050, 1060, or 1070 come to mind. Compatibility is tricky, but it’s definitely possible. The power supply is another hurdle; this unit supports up to 300W, which isn’t enough for a high-end GPU. You’d need around 300W just for the GPU, so I’m focusing on optimizing what I have.

I’d pick a 1050ti. It fits what you need, works well for your goals, and stays affordable—ideally under $75 for the GPU when prices stabilize.

It seems the 1050ti could handle what I need without a PSU upgrade. I might actually look for one around that price if I can find it. Adding a budget SSD would be enough. Thanks!
