I haven't purchased a new laptop in ten years, yet it's the right time.
I need a 13-inch screen, a super portable device with long battery life. I travel often and use YouTube, Netflix, and other services.
Apart from that, I'm not a tech enthusiast. I don’t play games or run large applications. Just email, browsing the web, filing taxes, and streaming content.
I’m fine with last year’s technology, but I want a durable machine lasting at least five years.
Could you suggest some well-made small laptops with good battery life under $1,000? I’m considering Lenovo, Dell, HP, etc.

There are some solid options from the latest generation. Intel 13th generation models are expected soon. 11th generation devices offer the best discounts. You might also consider Ryzen 6000 based laptops. Below are several models available on Newegg (their search is top for laptops), with price comparisons against Amazon, and you can proceed from there.

Small battery (39.3 Wh) (many online complaints were found about this), soldered memory, only a 256GB SSD, and PRO CPU features meant for business that offer little practical use. The 16:10 screen is decent, but you’ll notice bigger black bars at the top and bottom when watching videos.

The Lenovo model I mentioned has an older CPU, but it’s bigger. It includes a larger 59Wh battery, double the memory, and double the storage capacity. It’s also Yoga-style, so it can be converted into a tablet.

The HP model is similarly detailed, featuring an i7 CPU, 53Wh battery, 16GB memory, and a 512GB SSD.

Microsoft Surface serves as an Apple alternative, offering a very high pixel density display and overall high quality. Its battery capacity is around 50Wh, typical for ultrabooks.

The Dell XPS 13" is relatively new, but this product line generally receives good feedback.

The more affordable Dell version is essentially just a basic Latitude. In an office setting, replacement parts should be readily available.
