Top three budget-friendly options under $200 for the Ryzen 9 5900X.
Top three budget-friendly options under $200 for the Ryzen 9 5900X.
After some hours of investigation I can share that if you're searching for the top B550 motherboard under $200, consider these options: Gigabyte Aorus Elite V2, Asus TUF Gaming Plus, and MSI MAG Tomahawk. The Gigabyte and Asus models stand out for their strong OC performance in various tests. I don't recommend the X570 chipsets since they're pricier, include a fan, and are mainly useful with multiple NVMe PCIe Gen 4 SSDs. Which of these three do you think performs best?
When purchasing a high-end CPU, it's wise to also consider a superior motherboard.
When purchasing a 5900X, opt for an x570 board. Spending $550 on a CPU and getting a budget board doesn't make much sense. B550 is mainly useful for boards priced at $5700 or less. Make the most of your processor. From the options, steer clear of Gigabyte—their support teams aren't reliable, and their RAM QVL varies significantly.
There are no advantages beyond additional functionality that won't be utilized. Or is that correct?
there are advantages such as the PCIE breakdown for 4.0 and 3.0 lanes, you'll need them within a few years when direct storage becomes available unless you're using this machine for different purposes. Ultimately it depends on your needs, but I chose to do it since I anticipated needing a 5900x or 5950x with improved RAM in the future. I currently have an x570 Aorus Master with 3800x.
For a high-end mobile game, you might skip the premium CPU if budget allows. But when funds aren’t a concern, opt for the best option.
