What games released in the past few years do you think have the most realistic graphics on highest settings? Do you think there is a visual trend that the game industry is moving towards? Thus far, I believe that very few games have managed to render facial shadows and highlights believably, without excessive "shininess" in the highlights and with accurately sharp or blurred shadows depending on the lighting and angle.

BeamNG.Drive features impressive physics, making it stand out. It's unclear if it qualifies as a 2015-16 title, as it remains in alpha testing with ongoing updates.

Everybody's Gone To The Rapture stands out as the most believable game I've encountered. Take a look at those screenshots—be careful, the images are large: Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler

You’ve likely already run Crysis 3 with the highest graphics settings enabled.

Star Wars Battlefront is my choice, even though the game is awful.

I planned to mention SW Battlefront, but then I came across those images. WOW!

I haven't experienced the game directly, but the one that caught my attention most is The Division (released in 2015).

Avoid this one since it resembles locations close to yours, with a bit more saturation than usual.

Everyone believes the rapture was a visually impressive title, but it came across as more about style than substance and performed poorly. The Division has a nice design, as does Dirt Rally. I’m not sure about the release date, but the game that left the strongest impression on me was The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. When you step out of the tunnel into the woods, your reaction is immediate.
