Hello, I'm planning to purchase a Ryzen 7000 chipset and wanted to know what DDR5 memory would be best. A 32GB package at 5600MHz (G.Skill) is priced similarly to a 6000MHz 36-36-36-96 set (G.Skill). I'll mainly use this system for gaming. (I thought RAM speed isn't that important since the Ryzen 7 5800X3D already offers good latency, so it might be comparable with the Ryzen 7000X3D?)
The comparison mainly hinges on the 5800X3D; the performance gap between a 3200 CL22 and a 3800 CL14 setup is minimal at best (especially with a Ryzen 5000). On Ryzen processors, latency is closely linked to memory speed and less influenced by clock settings, though it still plays a role. The 6000 CL36 kit probably edges out the 3200 CL22 in this regard. For X3D chips, timing matters less now compared to earlier generations—memory bandwidth remains crucial, so wait for official releases before making a choice. Any advice today is just guesswork until the new chips arrive next year.
