I hope this stays out of the constant stream of Windows 10 updates. You're searching for personal finance tools to help with budgeting. I considered Quicken, but many reviews mentioned issues and compatibility problems with Windows 10. They also noted it doesn't support that version, so you'd need another one when upgrading. Moneydance had similar complaints in the reviews. When setting up Mint, you chose not to link bank accounts, which stopped the process. Have anyone used Quicken, Moneydance, or Mint before? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Excel or similar spreadsheet programs would be the simplest option. I once used an open-source version that worked well and was straightforward to install. Searching online revealed GNUCash, but there are also other alternatives such as two versions with a more Windows-like interface using portable apps.
