I planned to purchase an 8x32 GB unit from the VENGEANCE RGB PRO line by Coresair, but realized various models offer varying speeds and response times. It seems the 256 GB version isn't as quick as the 128 GB options, and the 8x16 GB model provides better performance compared to the 4x32 GB. Could someone clarify this clearly and advise on the optimal selection? I'm not focused on price, but speed and memory capacity between 128 and 256 GB are most important to me.

The kits come with specified performance levels. You'll match them to a compatible motherboard and processor, and you're planning to use the PC for whatever tasks you have in mind.

If budget isn’t a concern, look for the quickest sticks and purchase eight of them. (16GB fits 128GB, and 32GB fits 256GB.) I thought you needed a lot of RAM, but if you’re unsure, it’s probably not worth it—just avoid overspending.

This Corsair Vengeance 8 x 16GB 4000MHz C19 package is likely the top speed for a 128 GB configuration. The fastest available 256 GB option (3200Mhz) would probably outperform these, though consumer CPUs aren't compatible. This article might interest you.

You're doing intensive work with your system, so better performance makes a big difference. I initially considered the new Mac Pro but realized building my own PC could save me thousands. Here’s the setup I’m planning: CPU – AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X VGA; Graphics – Dual ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 2080 Ti OC Edition; Motherboard – ASUS ROG Zenith II Extreme Alpha. RAM options include 256 GB (8x32GB at 3000MHz) or 128 GB (4x32GB at 3000 MHz). I’m curious about mixing 8 of the 32GB modules with 3600 MHz CL18 and wondering if it would work, especially since Coresair only offers 256GB kits at that speed.

In fact, the primary concern is regarding those CLs, does it really matter? Clearly, the higher the MHz, the better.

For your Mac Pro requirements, having that kind of memory would definitely make a difference. I’d assess your specific needs and choose accordingly. At that level, I’d focus on solutions tailored for Threadripper processors (like the one mentioned).

values are decreasing, yet the impact appears minimal in terms of MHz.
