Oh, this isn't an ISP WAN connection? You must have an interesting setup. Last I saw for around $25 you can find retired Mellanox ConnectX-2 cards with a single SFP+ port. If you want something brand new that only does 1Gbit it will cost more. I find Windows default drivers for the card suffice. It does need a little airflow though. Gets hot without it. You may or may not have trouble with transceiver compatibility if you use your own. I know one that works and is capable of 10Gbit.
