Admit it, I don’t currently need Thunderbolt, but I’m curious about experimenting with it later. It could fit into any upcoming upgrades or configurations if the opportunity arises.
I understand the situation, but it seems there wasn't an option to build it at all. The choice depends largely on the recommended chipset, and I don’t have much hands-on experience with Intel chipsets over the last decade. Most of what I’ve built has been using consumer systems that came pre-assembled. Someone mentioned Intel might lower prices on their ninth-gen CPUs soon.
I own a Gigabyte board featuring an integrated Thunderbolt 3 port. I've experimented with the Alpine Ridge card on compatible boards, but the outcomes were not very promising. If you anticipate needing Thunderbolt in the future, consider getting a board that includes it. This will help prevent many troubles down the line.
