I believe we really need some improvement here or suggest using software in general. This question seems to come up too often. On the other hand: for free antivirus options, you should consider Avira or Bitdefender. Bitdefender is lighter but offers fewer control features. If you prefer a paid choice, Bitdefender or Kaspersky are better options. I’d likely choose Kaspersky because their team has uncovered many security vulnerabilities before. You might also explore AVTEST, an independent company that rates antivirus programs (Bitdefender and Kaspersky rank first). Also, consider scanning your computer weekly—whatever timeframe feels comfortable—for Malwarebytes. Just remember, Malwarebytes isn’t an antivirus itself; use it as a scanner only. Avoid accepting the trial and turn it off at startup.

It works perfectly, no issues reported yet. The whole family has been using it for years.

Alright. This is my kind of post. Now, this is more of a complex question. but primarily it comes down to what do you want. Generally, free antivirus software doesn't protect as good as some of the paid ones out there. I only ever recommend Microsoft Security Essentials to friends. Even though it doesn't offer much protection microsoft is a great company and they don't mess around, I would trust their security suites to protect against any outbreaks if there was any. Use Comodo if your paranoid. Or just buy Kaspersky and be done with it.
