What's the optimal configuration for an E5/x99 gaming rig under $150? Seeking the quickest CPU and best motherboard setup available on AliExpress. Turbo mod or V4—what’s the top choice? Looking to assemble a solid PC!

He has numerous reviews of x99 boards on Aliexpress. You'll need to explore his channel for some of them. https://www.youtube.com/@Miyconst/videos

I observe him closely and have seen numerous videos, quality material. It's tough to decide between the 2680 v4, E5 2697A V4, and E5 2690 V4. Then I tend to opt for cheaper options like Machinist X99-RS9 or similar.

It really comes down to the games you plan to play and what else you need your PC for, like video editing. For esports, you might prioritize more cores at the cost of some performance, while AAA games could benefit from more cores and cache. In either case, going for higher frequency parts makes sense, so I’d likely skip the 2680 v4 and look at a 1660 v4, 1650 v4, or even a 2667 v4.

I enjoy CS2 at 720p low and BF V at 1080p high. Comparing 12400f versus E5 2697A V4 with a 1080ti—both seem to avoid overloading the GPU? Playing at 720p low would make it suitable for LAN gaming sessions. Here are links to my AliExpress cart components: Intel Xeon E5 2697A V4 E5-2697AV4 processor 2.6GHz, 40M, 16-core, 32-thread, 145W, 14nm LGA 2011-3 CPU; MACHINIST RS9 X99 motherboard; and AliExpress RAM DDR4 8GB/16GB, 2666MHz/3200MHz. The latter is much more affordable than the 12400f, ddr5 6800mhz 2 x 16gb ASRock B760M PG Riptide.

I recently purchased this kit, mostly for the 9 SATA ports, but it looks like a solid board with a decent design aside from the VRAM which might need better cooling. This could also apply to some upcycled Chinese boards.
