Hi everyone! I'm exploring the top choices for a motherboard that fits my needs. I want something that allows decent overclocking for beginners to hobbyists, supports PCIe 4.0 in the future, has M.2 Gen 4 slots, and lets me flash BIOS updates since I don’t have an older Ryzen. My budget is roughly £200 with a little room for extra features. I’m checking out this one but any better options in that range would be awesome! Thanks for your help with the link you shared.

Top options include the best ASUS ROG Crosshair boards, currently the priciest available. The Tomahawk stands out as a solid pick, alongside GigaByte's Aorus Pro and Master models. Built-in BIOS flashing features are present on ASUS ROG, MSI Tomahawk, and Aorus boards.

Around 200 pounds you can find several options: the MSI B550-A ATX motherboard is listed at £134.99, the Asus ROG STRIX B550-F at £161.40, and the X570 tomahawk at £143.99. Prices on Amazon UK include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts, bringing the total to the respective amounts shown. These boards are all capable of handling a 5900x processor.

The key distinctions lie in their features and upgrade potential. The 570 offers more advanced components compared to the 550, making it a stronger option for future enhancements.

The key distinction lies in the wiring of lanes: B550 uses Gen 4 lanes for the CPU while Gen 3 lanes serve the chipset, and X570 combines Gen 4 lanes for both the CPU and chipset. Unless you require the additional Gen 4 capacity that X570 provides, a B550 board remains sufficient. A reasonable budget in UK PCPP is around 180 pounds, which may not offer significant value relative to other options in this price range.

If you're okay with spending a bit more, the Aorus Master B550 offers a lot of features you'd expect from a B550. It includes everything you'd want from a B5550 motherboard.

I appreciate the Strix B550-f. The choice depends on your input requirements.

Many users are overlooking the AsRock X570 Steel Legend. It's a solid build at a reasonably affordable cost.

Your 5800x performs well with a 120mm AIO setup.

Extremely reliable performance. Operates smoothly at 4.95GHz even under light threads, reducing to 4.45GHz in the most demanding cases. Reaches its ideal temperature of 90°C right away, which is typical and not a concern since it isn't throttling. (This behavior is completely normal for this processor.)
