You're looking for a better operating system for your old Acer notebook. It currently has limited RAM and Windows XP isn't supported, making performance slow. You're considering switching to Windows for smoother operation and are curious about using an SD card as a storage solution—this could improve speed and I/O performance.

I’d prefer a Linux distribution, especially Ubuntu, though that’s just my opinion. I’m also uncertain about the feasibility, but if you could manage to get ChromeOS running, it would be perfect.

You can explore a free demo or trial version of the software before purchasing. Many providers offer limited access to test the product legally.

Linux is reliable. Choose any distribution you like and you're set.

For Windows, you might start with a Linux distribution first. It usually gets easier after a few days.

I’ve worked with Ubuntu before. I also want to retain the apps I have installed, such as Visual Studio and Microsoft Office. Additionally, I’d like my friends and family to be able to access them easily.

Hey everyone, I think I’ll try Ubuntu again until I’m tired of this mess

Linux Mint MATE edition is a great choice. It runs smoothly and is easy to operate.
