Looking for advice on a $600 network switch? You need link aggregation across four ports for your Synology NAS and want to boost performance to around 400MB/s between the NAS and your PC. Your current quad-gigabit NIC already has this, but the 8-port switch you have doesn’t support it. Make sure you’re using compatible hardware and settings to achieve the speed you need.

You likely prefer not to include link aggregation, as I'm using smb3 multichannel. That means you won't require a managed switch, and a single device can achieve full speed.

It's cool you can keep using your $30 switch on that service. Excited to try it out right away! (I'll start learning how.) Appreciate the advice!

Visit blog.azureinfra.net to find Synology setup guides. For your switch, consider checking the Brocade ICX 6450 on eBay. It offers 48x POE+, 1GB plus 4x 10GB SFP+ cards.
