Top choice for 3900x configuration
You likely mean the other way around (x570 is higher, "more capable"). Aside from the videos, in a nutshell: B550 advantage: no fan x570 advantage: mostly more high speed usb's (and more pcie4 but its not like youll ever notice). Now comes the weird thing (note can vary wildly on location), b550 "should be" cheaper, but in a lot of places it isnt, or by such a small margin that its insignificant (sometimes for 10% more or even less, the equivalent x570 board can be had, albeit with a fan). This is how i wound up at x570 (amongst other reasons, but it played a major role) whilst b550 would have sufficed plenty technically.
Consider the options carefully between the b550 Aorus Pro and the Strix X570-F. Here’s the complete setup you mentioned: a Ryzen 7 1700 X470 Aorus Ultra with G.Skill 16GB RAM, 3000MHz, GTX 1080, and Extreme Deepcool. Storage includes a 2TB NVMe SSD spinning at 7200 RPM, plus an M.2 NVMe 500GB drive. You’re opting against PCIe Gen 4.
I focus on the look, not the sound. The exposed fan isn’t a big issue if it’s hidden. Noise isn’t my concern either.
I mentioned I don't prefer open fans. I was curious about the comparison between the B550 and X570 for a 3900x. The X570 model costs around 280€, while the B550 isn't available on Amazon yet. I'm rephrasing my question now: Considering future upgrades and overclocking, which one is more suitable?
