You've found some solid mid-to-high range options and are weighing your choices carefully. For motherboards, the Strix and Gaming Plus seem like strong contenders, especially if you're considering international suppliers. If you're open to alternatives, the ASUS ROG Strix B550-F is a reliable pick, while the MSI models offer good performance too. The Gigabyte Aorus series is also worth looking into for value.

Regarding RAM, a 2x16GB 3600MHz CL16 setup should work well for most tasks, but if you're planning heavy multitasking or gaming, upgrading to faster speeds might be beneficial. It's not necessarily a waste of money unless you're consistently pushing your system to its limits.

Gigabyte B550 pro works well without AC if you don’t need WiFi or Elite features. The main difference from other models is minor. Asus boards include the Intel 2.5g LAN chip, but it has several problems. A 3600MHz CL16 is acceptable and should function smoothly with the docp(xmp) profile.

ASUS missed the mark with the x470/x570/B450/B550 MOBOs. Most of the new Zen CPUs haven’t lived up to expectations.

What draws you to the Strix and Gaming Plus platforms? They share similar capabilities rather than distinct ones.

Among these options, the tomahawk offers the highest VRMs. If it meets your requirements, choose it. Regarding RAM, a 2x16 3600C16 should suffice.

It's true, most people focus on appearance when choosing a vehicle. For pure performance, the B550 Tomahawk seems like a strong contender.

I don't have any evidence to support that claim. The absence of strong caps suggests it may not be the case.
