I've got an RTAB2s from Charter that's not great. I don't think you should waste my time with the details. I also have an R6300 in storage, but I'm considering upgrading if it makes sense. Devices for 5GHz NVIDIA Shield 2x PC, two 4K TVs, a 2.4GHz setup for three phones and a tablet, a Surface Pro, Xbox One, and a printer. I've checked a few options but before I decide, I'd like your input. Thanks!

I own the rack-mounted model of this device. For personal use it performs exceptionally well. Edited March 8, 2021 by RollinLower typos

The model you received corresponds to the version without Wi-Fi. I checked another, but it only supports the 2.4 GHz frequency band, not 5 GHz.

WiFi 5 works adequately most of the time. I’ll test your existing router first before purchasing a new one. The main reason for upgrading right now is to switch to WiFi 6 or 6E, but I’m skeptical there won’t be many affordable options under $100.

I really aim to get the best performance from my NVIDIA Shield and game streaming setup. I understand that using a wired CAT 6 connection would be ideal, but it seems it might not fully utilize the Shield's capabilities unless you're covering longer distances. There are Wi-Fi 6 routers available for around $150, though the Shield itself doesn't support them directly. MIMO technology is important here—especially with the R6300 model, which includes MU-MIMO.

I don't agree with that. Ethernet offers a more reliable and steady connection. WiFi is simply more convenient. If possible, I'd choose wired. From what I know, it doesn't speed up the link. It's especially useful when many devices are connected.

I share your thoughts. Since the PCs are in the same space as the shield, I could connect an HDMI cable directly from the PC to the TV and save money. However, I’d lose the upscaling done by the shield, which is my view too. It also makes it easier for both devices to communicate simultaneously in both directions.
