Top 32mm RAM options for 3950X
I'm wondering why the D15 fan doesn't work well with taller rams unless you accept a crooked appearance. It seems odd that aligning the fan instead of cutting its path on the heatsink might actually spread warm air around the case. I'm torn between three options: 1) search for the best 32mm ram and sacrifice the perfect 2-fan alignment, 2) settle for less cooling and remove the fan, or 3) raise the fan so it fits but looks awkward. The 3950x is big, so I want top performance without overclocking. If raising the fan is necessary, will it fit in a Fraktal Define R6 case? My original plan was GSKILL F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC.
Having a fan directly above the RAM area would help dissipate heat more effectively.
Ram generates relatively little warmth. Top-mounted fans can help dissipate excess heat effectively.
It appears the item is a plastic casing with no movement, and the fan seems elevated. The design looks very snug. The Corsair model mentioned has a 32mm profile, but I couldn't locate it on their site.
They definitely offer half-height sticks, though I’m not sure about DDR4 options. I chose the smallest size available. I also own an LPX build.
I think sticking with the GSKill set you already have makes sense—it offers the best balance of performance and cost. Mounting it differently could affect airflow, possibly causing issues with the case fan. No one in the building has engineering expertise, but I recommend checking the manual or consulting a tech-savvy colleague before making changes.
