Mounting to USB is confusing—mounting means attaching a fake disk to a machine. I think you're looking to place an ISO file onto a USB drive to function like a hard drive.

I've consistently relied on Rufus or UNetbootin. Both have demonstrated excellent performance and helped me create numerous functional bootable USB drives.
