I have the chance to purchase a second-hand laptop from a family member in Well State. My main worry is about the HD. What should I use to install or scan quickly via a Live USB to check the HD for any issues? For instance, if there’s a bad cluster on an HDD or similar problems with SSDs, it’s about the cells. The tool needs to be free, compatible with both laptops and desktop PCs, and work for either HDD or SSD. I prefer using a Live USB with .iso files (to be added through Ventoy). If there are two tools, one for SSD and one for HDD, let me know—I can use Ventoy with Peace. Thanks in advance.

Retrieve crystal disk details to view smart information about the drive, including operating hours and bad sectors. SSD or HDD does not affect this view. Going further would scan the entire disk surface, which would take a long time on large drives. Since HDD/SSD are affordable, even if it fails, it's not a major issue. Just create an image with a cloning tool as soon as possible and save it to external storage to maintain your system.

Retrieve crystal disk details, it displays key smart information about the drive, showing usage hours and bad sectors. The type—ssd or hdd—doesn’t matter much. Any further data would require scanning the entire disk surface, which could take a long time on large drives. Since hdd/ssd are affordable, even if something fails, it’s not a major issue. Just create an image with a cloning tool as soon as possible and save it to external storage to maintain your system.
