I need a tool that lets me manage my second monitor without having to follow the usual steps. There should be an option to wake it up only when needed or to put it to sleep automatically when not in use. Would such a feature exist?

Some displays can power down automatically after a set time. For instance, your Samsung monitor enters sleep mode after 30 seconds of a completely black screen, but it only functions when the display is fully dark. Adjust your background to solid black and remove all other elements such as icons or task bars from view, keeping the screen entirely dark. This may cause it to enter standby mode on its own, similar to your Samsung monitor does.

I noticed my screen dims after a while of inactivity—I’ll check if that’s the only choice.

DisplayFusion and other display managers are capable of this. It's recommended to configure monitor profiles—one for dual displays and another for a single monitor.
