Hello, I've been using Chrome since my laptop arrived, and it performed well initially. After a few months, loading web pages started freezing, especially YouTube. The issue intensified, so I reset settings, reinstalled Chrome, and turned off all plugins. Still, the problem persists. About a week ago, it became extremely problematic—even entering a URL froze Chrome completely. Pages would stall, and sometimes just leaving Chrome open caused it to freeze. Occasionally it shows "Not Responding," though not consistently. Chrome doesn’t crash or shut down abruptly; it simply freezes. I’ve been using Internet Explorer lately, which doesn’t freeze like Chrome but runs slower than usual. Also, when trying to switch Chrome to full desktop mode while it’s frozen, the result is shown here: http://www.puu.sh/cyT7b/f991a7493d.jpg. My PC specs are: Intel i7 4700MQ @ 2.4GHz (up to ~3.3GHz), 8GB RAM, HD 4600 graphics, and a 1600x900 monitor. OS is Windows 8.1. Thanks, Zambonie. Edit: Sorry about the title... it wasn’t intended that way. Something likely happened, or it’s fixed now.

Consider alternatives to malware such as brute-force uninstallers like IOBit. However, my instinct suggests there might still be malware involved, though Chrome could be the culprit (unexpected, but possible).

Kaspersky doesn't display anything initially; I'm performing a full scan now. I also observed... Kaspersky added an extension to Chrome if the settings icon appears orange. I'll turn it off right away and check for any changes. Disabled, nothing. Then I'll attempt to connect with IOBit and see how it proceeds.

We've finished the full scan, no results detected. IOBit isn't assisting. Are there other options you'd like to explore?
