My MSI r9 270x is running at 1190 mhz and 1400 memory clock. When under load it stays between 77-83 degrees Celsius. Is this temperature excessive for continuous gaming sessions of 4 to 5 hours a day? Also, the overclock appears stable with no visible signs of instability.

If you truly believe your nickname is right, the RX 480 arriving at the end of the month will offer an excellent price of $200 and significantly enhance your current setup.

It's not too hot, but you might be able to lower it with a custom fan profile.

I possess a tailored fan configuration, and these readings correspond to fans operating at 95% capacity.

I had the same issue before, it's not related to AMD or Nvidia. People keep asking for higher FPS, but the fix is usually too hot and if the graphics card has open fans, it can damage the case by letting all the heat escape. Don't try to force it—it will burn you out. The only solution I found was using two high static pressure fans next to the PC case to cool the card from both sides. Nothing else worked.

If you truly believe your nickname is accurate, the RX 480 arriving at the end of the month will offer an excellent price of $200 and represent a significant upgrade compared to what you currently have. Thanks for both responses, and indeed you're correct. The RX 480 appears to be a solid offer if they can provide it.

Run the stress test in GPU mode for an hour. If it doesn't exceed 85, it's fine. The VRMs on my old HD 7970 overheated severely after about three minutes—don't risk it. Try Unigine Valley instead; it's a more realistic option.
