That processor from 2009 would likely match a high-end CPU around 2015 or 2016, depending on exact specs. In 2021, it would probably correspond to a mid-to-high range chip, possibly similar to a modern i7 or i9.

They don’t produce anthrax anymore, and I believe that would be around 11,700,000?

From a cost perspective, a 5800x would likely match the price point.

Adjusted for inflation, the amount over 6,000 equals approximately $575 in today's purchasing power.

I believe everything increased by eight since then, making a dual-core setup 16 cores with 8 GB RAM seem reasonable. A 64 GB SSD or M.2 drive would be more than enough, which felt excessive at the time. Around 2021 it looked like a solid upgrade, though it did start to show signs of wear. I had to drop it from my configuration because the whole system was quite old. It surprised me how much power that CPU still delivered over the years.

They continue to refer to these as Athlon models, though they mainly focus on budget processors with integrated graphics. https://www.amd.com/en/processors/athlon-desktop

In 2009 a dual-core Athlon wasn't considered top-tier.

The 6000+ model was priced at $464 MSRP for the Windsor core 90nm version (3.0GHz). After a die shrink to 65nm, it became the 6000+ Brisbane (3.1GHz). The final update for the 65nm process occurred in 2007, not 2009.

It was established in 2009, so we need to determine its status in 2021.
