I recently assembled a new PC and chose the 7700X and 7800 XT in the Meshify 2 Mini. I assumed the graphics card would be the main issue. Unfortunately, the CPU is getting quite hot given all the modifications I've made. I was aware of the default 95°C temperature for Ryzen 7000 series, but even with a successful -30 CO and lowering the voltage to 1.15 (95W max), it still reaches 80°C under a Scythe Mugen 5 at moderate speeds. My previous setup used a simpler tower with a 5600X that would have drawn similar power and stayed about 20°C cooler. The sticker was removed—any suggestions?
Checks if the system is running in idle or stress mode, like Cinebench. It’s possible it’s 80C during stress but normal at idle.
High temperatures after stress testing were common, even with typical gaming loads around 50W. I adjusted the Mugen and tweaked some undervolting a bit more. Cinebench now stays just below 80 degrees with better clocks and slower fans. The performance should be stable now that I’ve matched the old setup. It seems a few hours of work can make the difference between a stable run and a crash—here’s a practical fix before I end up on the screen.
It's typical to use 7800X3D on Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120, and it matches your temperature readings. The biggest fluctuation during gameplay is around 62°C, which is uncommon. You shouldn't worry about your CPU performance unless you're constantly stress-testing (no judgment if that happens). PBO undervolt offers some benefit, but a top-tier cooler like Scythe Mugen 5 will keep things stable (even if it causes bluescreen moments).
It's currently reaching 107 degrees due to loading specific games. It's running at 1.2V, but I've lowered it to 1.1V. A 95W load keeps the CPU at 87 degrees with fans running full speed.
The situation is worsening continuously. It rapidly reached 90 degrees before the game display appeared and then stopped completely.
I've repositioned the cooler once more, but it keeps reaching 78 degrees when I open cinebench. When I start it now, it jumps to 95 degrees right away and switches to 5GHz in just ten seconds. What’s going on here?
