Hello
I’m looking to boost the performance of my Core 2 Duo gaming setup.
My e4700 can be overclocked to 3.20 GHz and it performs very well, but the e8400 won’t reach that level.
In the BIOS, the FSB is set to 345, and if I go beyond that the system won’t boot without resetting the CMOS.
Someone knows why this happens when the e4700 works better?

Here are the full specs:
Mobo: MSI 945GCM5 V2 (FSB 1333) (MS-7267 v4.2) with Intel i945g chipset
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo e8400
GPU: EVGA GeForce GT 730 2 GB GDDR5
RAM: 4 GB DDR2
HDD: 320 GB WD Blue SATA
OS: Windows 10 64-bit

Various cpus operate at different speeds. It seems one CPU might be an excellent overclocker while another is worse this time. This situation is often called the silicone lottery.
