I've owned this PC since 2018 and have made some modifications whenever possible.
Currently, my setup includes:
GIGABYTE AB350 Gaming - DDR4 ATX Motherboard
Ryzen 5 2600 CPU
ROG-STRIX-850G (850W)
Corsair VENGEANCE PRO DDR4 RAM 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz
XFX Speedster MERC319
RX 6950XT (16GB)
1TB Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM010 - 3.5" Hard Drive/HDD
Samsung 860 EVO 500 GB SSD
Operating system: Windows 10
GPU drivers are up to date

I recently purchased the RX 6950 XT in April, hoping it would boost performance in demanding games like Cyberpunk and also for less demanding titles such as League of Legends.
Although I can run Cyberpunk at high settings with around 80 frames per second, increasing the settings causes my PC to struggle significantly. The GPU becomes very noisy, and the cooling fans generate a lot of heat.
More concerning is the lack of noticeable improvement in League of Legends. At low settings and when stationary, I achieve about 144fps, but as I move around or play for longer periods, I experience constant frame drops down to 70 and sometimes even 50 frames.

Based on my observations and the card's price, I believe there’s still room for better performance. I’m pretty sure my CPU is limiting the GPU’s potential. Is there anything else I should consider upgrading this holiday season?
Looking forward to any advice!

The CPU might be restricting your GPU performance. (I prefer not to call it a bottleneck.) Could you share your temperatures? I think upgrading to a 7600x would be a good idea, but you'll also need to replace your RAM because AM5 only supports DDR5.

There is always a constraint, often related to the CPU or GPU.
Your findings indicate a potential CPU limitation.
The single-thread speed of the master thread is essential.
Execute the cpu-Z benchmark and examine the single-thread performance score.
You should observe approximately 475:
CPU-Z Benchmark for AMD Ryzen 5 2600 (1T) - CPU-Z VALIDATOR
Optimal CPU performance - 64-bit - October 2023

How harmful is sticking with the AM4 platform? I've noticed some problems with AM5, and the performance gains there seem quite small, especially right now.
I'd really prefer to stick with my existing AM4 motherboard just to avoid the hassle of removing everything and rewiring it all over again.
Is the Ryzen 7 5800X suitable for an AM4 setup?

Using AM4 means there are no future upgrades available. With AM5 you can expect at least another generation, possibly even two more CPU generations. The 2600 achieves around 7500 in cinebench r23 and the 7600x reaches about 15000. Moving from the 2600 to the 7600x represents a significant performance increase. The 5800x will likely perform even better, but you won't really have any upgrade options afterward.

How full is your pocket? Check the 5800x3d.

5700X offers a solid improvement at an additional 180 dollars, though pairing it with a quality cooler is essential. It delivers roughly a 50% boost over your current setup.
