I received a Geforce GTX 750 TI this Christmas, and my computer definitely isn't great.
My CPU is an Intel core 2 dua e6750 at 2.66 ghz... That's really bad, and it causes the GPU to struggle.
I'm hoping for something affordable—probably not an i3 for around £5, just something reasonably cheap that won't bottleneck.

Hi,
1) Each game differs in its average CPU versus GPU usage.
2) With some experience, we understand that most games have a significant bottleneck, allowing you to easily exceed 2X FPS when paired with a modern i5 or i7 CPU.
You might find Passmark helpful:
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=...40+2.66GHz
Around 1000 score per thread is about, though it may seem unclear at first but becomes clearer when comparing many benchmarks. It's also good to compare with any CPU you're considering buying. You should aim for a dual-core model with a much higher score, or at least a 4-core one.
3) LGA775 CPUs?

Buying used on eBay could be an option, but I don't have...

Since you have a 775 socket motherboard, the i3s will not fit. Let me know the make/model of your board and I will suggest the best CPU for you.
But how do you know the C2D is bottlencking? Does the GPU reach 100% usage?

Don't be mad please, but I know little to nothing about bottlenecking and cpus and such. So I have no idea how I would find out if my gpu reaches 100% usage. and I have no idea how to find the make/model of my board... Sorry but If you could explain how I would happly do it.

Well... you said the CPU bottlenecks. How do you know? Do you know what bottleneck is? That means that the GPU cannot reach full potential because the CPU can't keep up.
Usually by running something like HWinfo while gaming or running a benchmark pgm, you can tell if you have CPU bottleneck. Check the GPU usage. If it is able to reach 100% usage, then there generally is no CPU bottleneck.

Check the motherboard for the model information. It's usually located near the center. If it looks like a standard brand product, it might be pre-built from companies such as Dell, HP, Compaq, or Gateway.

Avoid opening the system. Check the computer's interior or the BIOS settings. You might also use a tool named CPU-Z. It can provide details about the mainboard, though it may not always be accurate.

The link provided points to a specific page.
I noticed the computer arrived with the Christmas gift, possibly pre-built, though I'm not entirely sure.
The issue isn't resolved either. The screen only displays GPU stats and lacks the column headers like Current, Min, Avg, Max.
