Hi, I got GTA V from Epic Games as a gift and downloaded it today. I’m trying to figure out how to enable the online mode, but I’m not sure where to start. Thanks!

The screen indicates you must log in to the Rockstar Games social club. If you don’t have an account yet, you’ll need to set one up.

Usually when I launch it there's an option to pick between online and story mode

Yes, it's common for servers to be offline during character creation. That’s usually normal until the issue is resolved.
