Recently, discussions about benchmarking games with DLSS and similar upscaling features haven’t mentioned titles without native graphics support. Tekken 8 stands out for me, but it bothers me since it’s already capped at 60 FPS—something fighting games need to be consistent with. I’m curious if other games enforce forced upscaling and hope this isn’t becoming a common industry practice.
It seems you're confused about something. Could you clarify what you mean?
Games are starting to stop letting you disable upscaling. The developer is upset about this change and hopes it sparks more discussion among tech people.
I observed in the Black Myth Wukong benchmark that there’s no choice to turn off FSR, DLSS, or XeSS. The engine requires you to select just one of them. Even when using DLSS at full render scale, it applies some DLAA effects, meaning a true 100% raw rendering isn’t possible in the game.
There exist titles where you can't even turn off poor AA or there are alternatives offered. Some refuse to let you disable basic upscale, while others force AA and upscale if you manage to turn it off, but then they strip away certain graphics options. Disappointing indeed. 60fps caps feel outdated, should be at least 120 now that it's straightforward to achieve. It's possible to unlock it without linking physics engine to input, though no one seems motivated to try. Sadly, optimizations remain low on the agenda, which is concerning given past experiences. These issues often appear in UE5 releases with poor AA and crude upscale. We'll just have to watch and hope for improvements.
