Hello, I just upgraded all my PC parts recently. Here’s a summary of what I changed. I replaced the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core processor running at 3.60 GHz. The only components that stayed the same were my motherboard, power supply, and RAM. I also upgraded to a full modular ATX power supply, a Corsair Vengeance RAM module, an MSI NZXT motherboard, a Kraken X63 RGB case with a 280mm radiator, and liquid cooling for my CPU. For cooling, I installed a black MPG B550 Gaming Plus radiator.

The issues I’m experiencing are game crashes during play. On Epic Games Store games like Fortnite, I can start and finish matches without problems, but the game freezes in the lobby or when loading maps in Dead by Daylight. Minecraft crashes after full matches with Optifine enabled and maximum shaders. Vanilla Minecraft works fine without crashing, but Call of Duty: Vanguard occasionally crashes. I also tried updating drivers, adding DirectX11, and checking BIOS settings, but the problem persists.

Anyone have suggestions or solutions?

The 3070 might not fully match the power needs of a 3080, especially considering Ryzen and most AMD boards are very particular about RAM specs. I’d recommend verifying your RAM model against the board’s recommended specifications. Since after two weeks of gaming I experienced frequent crashes and POST failures with no video during cold starts, I replaced both RAM and GPU to investigate. After swapping, the problem disappeared. The board even reported an issue with duplication, but reassembling with the correct RAM resolved it. It seems the QVL list might be useful, though DOCP settings could still affect timing accuracy—manual adjustments may be necessary. Updated September 7, 2022 by An0maly_76

Note important, even though vengeance is active on QVL, they may still display quite erratic behavior (notably LPX) up to and including the 3000 series. First reported here in early 2021 (late January/early February) and observed many cases since then. Particularly noticeable when attempting dual channel 3200 CL16 or using four sticks above JEDEC specifications.
