Hello! For your i7-4790K, aiming for a stable OC at least around 4.6V is a good target. Check out the recommended OC settings for your model and consider how much power you can safely use during gaming sessions each day. Your setup with a Noctua nh-d14 fan should help maintain good temperatures.

It relies heavily on silicon technology, the 4.6GHz frequency stays consistent near 1.35V. This processor is quite outdated—any modern chip will easily outperform it.

It once supported 4.7GHz at auto voltage around 2014-2015, but now it only reaches 4.5GHz. The voltage ranges for that model aren’t clear to me. It was a Z97 Impact.

Great, thanks! It seems like this setup isn't designed for standard power supply.

Testing at 4.6 with a load of 1.3, performance is strong under stress.

It wasn't what the OP asked, actually the 4790k remains a solid CPU and is pretty straightforward to boot via BIOS (especially since it's the K variant). I think you could try tools like Intel xtu, though I'm not sure if they still work. It's frustrating when people criticize good things just because they're older.

Jordan, it's tough right now. I really need something with a 13-14 generation and it should work with XTU.

btw click the button with the arrow next to the report sign to reply. but yeah ive been in pcs for a minute now and its insane to me how much people dont realize some people just cant afford the best thing. ig high end hardware kinda desensitizes people.
