Hi there. Do you have any suggestions to avoid freezing in your system? I experience random freezes every few minutes, even when using Discord. My setup includes a Ryzen 5 2600x, Gigabyte B450M DS3H, Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000, 16GB DDR4, a GeForce RTX 2060, a 500GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD. I’m considering upgrading the case, motherboard, and CPU—my current motherboard has one faulty RAM slot, preventing dual-channel use. I’m thinking about a Cooler Master NR600 with an Asus Rog B450-F gaming card and a Ryzen 5 3600. Any tips or solutions would be appreciated.
Upgrade the mainboard. The model you possess ranks low in the category.
Replace with a similar configuration and achieve improved performance.
You seem to be taking a firm stance here. I rarely engage with other users on this forum, but in this situation I feel compelled. It’s absurd to think replacing parts will help if the system is freezing. You didn’t pose just one question—your computer shouldn’t be freezing with your current setup. When did this begin? Do you know why one of your RAM slots isn’t functioning? Why didn’t you return the product for repair? What steps have you taken so far? CMOS reset? Did you reinstall Windows?
CMOS stands for the memory setup that protects your BIOS settings. You can clear the CMOS to reset these configurations. This is usually done by removing the small battery on your motherboard while the computer is unplugged. An RMA is a return authorization for products. I’m curious why you haven’t sent the item back yet and received a replacement if possible. If you’re replacing any components, that should be your first step.
I really don’t want any hassle. It’s hard to get my ATX cable working properly, and if I need to replace the motherboard, it’ll require a full rebuild—like reapplying thermal paste. I’m just curious whether upgrading would help with the FPS problems in certain games.
Using this hardware means you probably don’t need an upgrade unless you play at higher resolutions than 1080p. I have a Ryzen 7 2700 and a GTX 1080, which isn’t much better than your current configuration, and I’m just fine at 3440x1440. How are your Windows power settings configured? Inside the options, there’s an area to adjust the minimum and maximum CPU power. It seems like this is displayed in German: it’s important for 2nd generation Ryzen CPUs that it’s set to 5% and 100%.
