Timings for DRAM on the 5900X processor
So at last I have completed the basics of my ultimate (ok, not ultimate to some, but it cost a lot to me in Turkey's standards) gaming rig of which components are as follows: ASUS X570 Crosshair VIII Hero AMD Ryzen 9 5900x fixed @3.7 GHz and 0.9v because I use the cooler left from Ryzen 3 2200G (waiting for my Scythe Ninja 5 to arrive) Crucial Ballistix Black 2x8GB @3000Mhz (XMP profile enabled) Inno3D RTX 3080 iChill X4 FPS Hydro G Pro 750W Zalman N2 Case (2 front 1 exhaust fans) 1 SSD (128GB) and 1 HDD (1TB) (5-year-old pieces) I had used DRAM Calculator previously as it has support for Ryzen platforms until Zen 3 architecture and while we are still waiting for the support for latest gen to arrive, I wanted to overdrive this RAM couple as best as possible, like @3600 MHz or if instability would outweigh performance, down a notch @3400 Mhz. What would you suggest? Thanks in advance.
Test it and observe, instability won't damage the RAM. Begin at the XMP clocks and increase in increments until it fails.
I've discovered a comparable approach that functions adequately until the software keeps up with the new hardware.
