AMD and Intel are planning new CPU releases soon. It might not be the best moment to upgrade if your current setup is working well. Your 3970X at 5GHz is stable, but it can get hot—consider keeping it as-is unless you notice performance drops.

It suggests a performance boost is needed because achieving 5ghz on a 32-core processor isn't straightforward. Upgrades are expected with new AMD releases later this year. Edited July 13, 2020 by TofuHaroto

It's an older model with six cores, which isn't ideal. However, it's a good opportunity to upgrade since you can keep using the 3970x version.
