Call me paranoid, but here is what I did. My C: is on an M2 drive. I did an image backup of my C: to a USB spinning drive. I then pulled that M2 drive out and put a factory fresh M2 in. I restored to the new M2. Now I have a safe backup should anything go south. I then applied the Win11 upgrade to the newly installed (and larger) M2 drive. I did not have any obvious issues. I then installed Open-Shell to get the look/feel close to Win10.
Yes, did you purchase a genuine full-price Retail license from Microsoft or an authorized dealer, or a questionable key from an unscrupulous seller offering keys separated from a Volume License that violate Microsoft's terms? A legitimate Retail license typically costs around $100 for Windows Home and $180 for Professional. A questionable key split against Microsoft's conditions from a Volume License could be as low as $10.
Installing a key to run Windows isn't the same as having a valid license to use it.

I also tried OpenShell with my Win10 setup and it displayed as if using Win7. When I switched to Win11, I thought about running OpenShell once more and changing the GUI to Win7. However, Win11 has some fresh, useful features that I didn't want to abandon. Therefore, I now use WinAeroTweaker instead. Here are the details:

I had a computer without support for a Surface Pro, where I updated the registry using Microsoft instructions and upgraded to Windows 11 (currently 25H2) without any issues. I kept a calm attitude, thinking I could handle any problems that arose, so I didn’t stress too much. The only concern was that I might end up installing Linux instead.
