Checking if it’s safe to soak CPU pins in 99.5% isopropyl alcohol depends on the cleaning method. Avoid using a toothbrush or similar tools to prevent damaging the pins.

I don’t see a clear method for a toothbrush to bend metal pins just through the bristles unless you force the plastic into the CPU. You can submerge the CPU in rubbing alcohol, though it doesn’t dissolve thermal paste very well, so you usually need to clean it with another substance.

Obtain an inexpensive soft paintbrush, soak it in alcohol, then employ it to lightly remove the TIM.

The connections are quite good overall. Most of the 939 pins worked well, though a few were really bad.
